PROCESS ENGINEER

This position maintains an important role in both manufacturing and R & D.  Must develop a full understanding of the applications for products within area of responsibility and the respective manufacturing processes.  The role is accountable for achieving optimum process capability for safety, cost, quality, productivity, waste minimization and efficiency.  Will lead process improvement initiatives, assume a technical service/resource role to customers, and manage initiatives required to resolve customer concerns and issues.  The position will work as a member of the R & T Group and will be responsible for developing methods, introducing new raw materials and/or equipment modifications necessary in the deployment of new products, and enhancing existing products or manufacturing processes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for entire production process (all technologies and materials) from product definition to customer delivery.
  • Continually monitor, evaluate, and improve process/product performances (internal and external), raw materials, and machinery to ensure process control.  Investigate and implement countermeasures to solve product/production issues.
  • Apply statistical methods to identify cost reduction, quality improvements, and process change impacts.
  • Provide technical input for the upgrade, optimization, and design of machines.
  • Create/define/edit/maintain process specifications, documentation and engineering change system ensuring current product specifications are available to manufacturing and the appropriate communication/training has been accomplished.
  • Ensure associate understanding of existing procedures, processes or process changes through training and/or other internal process communications.
  • Establish methods and monitor operations to guarantee consistent execution throughout operation.
  • Recommend and manage improvement projects and associated costs to include machine modifications, process changes, raw material changes, etc.
  • Define improvement programs based on needs analysis; execute process optimization projects to achieve cost and quality goals.
  • Determine feasibility, profitability, and acceptance of internal and external development needs/requests.
  • Provide technical assistance in other areas including sales and marketing as requested in the support of new product/process development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Lead manufacturing process(es) by establishing operating parameters, troubleshooting equipment, and tracking machine and product performance
  • Responsible for design and implementation of machine modifications or installations.
  • Authorized to work with vendors, raw material suppliers, customers, and all levels of management.
  • Effectively communicate concerns and accomplishments to leadership.

 

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a 4-year degree in engineering; B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
